Some mornings are simply better than others…
Take this morning for instance. I awoke today to the announcement of the Ferrari F8 Tributo. This is like extra syrup on your Eggo’s for car nuts like us.
So what is the Ferrari F8 Tributo? It’s the replacement to the 488 GTB, which has only been around for a scant 3 years. But with McLaren coming out with a new model seemingly every other week, I the good folks at Maranello had to do something to keep pace.
Cliffs Notes:
- 3.9l Turbo V8 produces 710hp, 568ft-lb
- 0-60 in 2.9 sec
- Top speed: 211 mph
- 88lbs lighter than the 488 GTB
Those are all well and fine, but to be honest, I think I’m becoming immune to specs that only a decade ago would’ve seem physically impossible. Every exotic car maker puts up 700hp+ these days. Hell, Dodge has an entire stable of “everyday” cars that surpass that mark.
So, given that we’re now living in a time when modern super cars are having their way with the laws of physics, I’ve turned even more of my attention to their looks. And boy does the F8 Tributo accel is that department.
In my mind, Ferrari finally got back to making beautiful cars with the 458 Italia. That car signaled, to me, an end to Ferrari’s “its ugly because its functional” phase a la the 430, 599 etc. I felt the 488 GTB was a slight dip as it didn’t (again, to my eye) look quite as graceful and timeless as the 458.
But this F8 Tributo? Its awesome, baby! Every line resolves. Every curve is beautiful. It all makes sense as a whole and it is simply a thing of badass beauty.
…now back to my waffles.
